Team Member Spotlight: Shawn Anderson

Today we are celebrating the work anniversary of Shawn Anderson. Nearly two decades ago, nineteen years to be exact, Shawn joined the Information Systems Corporation team as a scanner technician. We had just made it through Y2K and our industry looked very different than it does today.

Over the years, Shawn has monumentally grown his technical skill-set. He is now a Solution Analyst and Developer, a master with our Opentext ApplicationXtender suite of products and an integral part of the ISC support team. He also leads our System Integration line of business, which has shown substantial growth in the past few years, and is a key asset in many of our most complex projects.

One fun fact about Shawn is that he is currently enjoying a well-deserved vacation with his family in Yellowstone National Park this week and will not see this post until next week. Cheers to you, Shawn! Thank you for your many years of dedication to our team and for going the extra mile daily to ensure our clients are being taken care of in every possible way. Happy Anniversary to Jamie Otte!

Jamie is one of our Hardware Support Analysts and has been with Information Systems Corporation for three years as of today.

Jamie was hired in 2016 to help our hardware support team better serve our customers on-site across our expansive mid-west territory. He immediately proved to be an invaluable asset to the ISC team not only from a technical perspective, but also due to his passion for customer service and innate ability to connect with and engage each individual that he encounters. This skill is evident when observing his interactions with colleagues and customers alike.

One fun fact about Jamie is that he loves to golf and takes an annual trip to Florida to enjoy some dedicated time on the links. Jamie, thank you for the knowledge, positive energy and passion that you bring to the table each and every day. Happy Anniversary!

Why Accounts Payable is the perfect introduction into the “World of Automation”

Nearly every department can benefit from automating their daily business processes, but the Accounts Payable process can be especially cumbersome for your team to execute manually. From consolidating invoices of various formats and from various mediums, to categorizing each vendor invoice, to invoice matching and performing a series of approvals, it can be a very tiring, manual process.

With our solution, utilizing Opentext ApplicationXtender and Captiva Intelligent Capture, your current invoice approval process will be nearly synonymous to your current process, but your team will enjoy greatly reduced processing times and improved overall accuracy due to the automation of many steps in their current process. Your vendor will submit an invoice and the automation will take flight.

Your invoice will automatically be captured and metadata will be extracted and indexed for future use. It will then be routed to the various individuals who need to verify the invoice throughout its series of approvals. From exception handling, authorizations, and validity and accuracy checks, your invoices no longer have to float from desk to desk, which leads to extreme process bottlenecks.

Invoice matching will also become a breeze with all your necessary documents including purchase orders, receiving reports and other supporting documents being stored in one secure location and indexed according to your specifications. So, when it comes time for invoice matching, the solution will intelligently verify GL code, line item information, amounts, terms, etc. based on pre-defined rules and validate them. If they do not meet the criteria for validation, they will be sent to a user for further review.

Another benefit your team will relish in is having complete 24/7 transparency in regard to payment status and approvals. Any representative, with the necessary permission levels, who needs to be aware of an invoice’s status will be able to do so with a stroke of a key.

Team Member Spotlight: Derek Dahlsad

This month we celebrated Derek Dahlsad’s anniversary. Derek is our Director of Support and Development and has been a team member at Information Systems Corporation for over a decade, twelve years to be exact- wow!

Derek leads our support team, which is vital so that all customer needs are being met on a daily basis and that all client solutions are functioning properly. Derek also leads our development team and not only spearheads development projects himself, but works with the team to ensure that all projects are remaining on target and assists team members when needed.

One fun fact about Derek is that he has many interesting personal projects. One project of his that spanned 7 years is a blog called ‘Dakota Death Trip’. Dakota Death Trip chronicles the “Tales of the tragic, harsh, strange, and amazing lives of those brave enough to claim the Northern Plains as home.” The blog is fascinating and shares stories of the challenging lives of those living in the Northern Plains from the late 19th century to early 20th century.

Derek, your knowledge, expertise and leadership are so unbelievably appreciated by all. Thank you for your dedication and hard work over these past 12 years. Happy Anniversary!

 

 

Team Member Spotlight: John Dockter

This month we celebrated the Anniversary of John Dockter, our current Director of Hardware Support, who has been with Information Systems Corporation for Twenty Nine years! John joined ISC in its second year of operation and has been a team member ever since. John is an integral member of the ISC support team, loved by all his customers and also is a great team member to work with on a daily basis. One fun fact about John is that he is a Chairman of the D5 Northern District Eagle Boards of Review and has been very involved with the Boy Scouts of America Organization throughout his life. Amy Lindemann, our Director of Accounting and Human Resources, had these words to say about John.

“I’ve known John for almost 21 years now. He’s been a great co-worker (he’s a team player) and he’s been a great friend outside of work as well. He was a mentor to our youngest son in Boy Scouts and was very instrumental in helping him achieve the highest rank of Eagle Scout. We couldn’t be more thankful to him for that. ISC wouldn’t be ISC without him & I look forward to many more years of working with him.” – Amy Lindemann

Team Member Spotlight: Kristin Young

This week we are celebrating the anniversary of Kristin Young. Kristin has been a part of the ISC team for two years and we are so fortunate to have her as a team member. Kristin is one of our valued Conversion Specialists who ensure that all client content is handled with the utmost confidentiality and care. Kristin Young is loved by all of her clients not only for her diligent work ethic, but also for the positive energy she exudes and brings to each project she is a part of.

One fun fact about Kristin is that she has practiced Aikido, which is a modern form of  Japanese Martial Arts, since 2007 and continues to hone her skills. Go get em , Kristin!

 “How a Minnesota County Became a Model of Efficiency

Doing more with less has never been more important for counties all over the country, even those with smaller populations like Morrison County, Minnesota.

You might not expect the “gateway to the northern Minnesota vacation land” – population 33,000 – to be a model of high-tech efficiency, but that’s exactly what forward-thinking staff were able to achieve in multiple departments, leveraging technology to streamline processes ranging from property records to social services.

The Challenge

When you oversee the front office operations of a government agency that manages 19 social service programs, you could easily spend all your time handling paper – moving from task to task without ever finding time to consider whether there is a better way. And, there is always a better way. Just ask the office services supervisor for the Morrison County Social Services Department.

The department manages everything from adoption, foster care and childcare assistance to food support, mental health, chemical dependency, child protection and support services for the county’s elderly. The responsibility is enormous. When you are handling such sensitive services as child protection or mental health assistance, a misplaced bit of information is not a trivial thing. And the caseload is never-ending. But the supervisor’s staff is so efficient they have been able to take on additional duties. And the supervisor is able to devote time to the process of instituting greater efficiencies into the process, revising forms and procedures and accommodating new programs.

Solution Impact

Morrison County first implemented ApplicationXtender document management software to help them manage incoming paper property records. Since then, the county’s use of ApplicationXtender has grown to include almost every department, with numerous licenses used for document management and workflow automation. Social Services is now the biggest user, with more than 1,000 pages a day going through its Captiva document scanning software.

  • The Social Services Department office staff shrunk by one full-time position, a savings in excess of $65,000 every year
  • Saved 30 reams of paper in Social Services in the first year of scanning financial assistance and child support documents, the length of which equates to 60 football fields
  • Created two new Social Services staff offices in space previously occupied by paper files”

Team Member Spotlight: Amy and Stacy

At the end of 2018, Stacy Ludwig and Amy Lindemann both celebrated their Anniversaries of joining the team at Information Systems Corporation. Amy has been an ISC team member for 20 years and Stacy has been with the team for 15 years – both such monumental anniversaries and ISC is SO fortunate to have had both their support for decades

Amy is our Director of Accounting and Human Resources and manages so many moving pieces internally to ensure the company run smoothly on a day-to-day basis. Stacy Ludwig is our Conversion Center Supervisor who ensures all client content is managed with care and projects completed with accuracy and efficiency.

Amy and Stacy partner on many office initiatives and even have had the chance to meet celebrities such as Jason Momoa together while on vacation. CHEERS to this dynamic duo!!! Happy Anniversary and Thank You for your many years of dedication. We are very lucky to have you both as a part of the ISC family.

Jamie Otte and many of our team members travel across a very expansive territory to support our customers and they encounter many interesting things along their travels. Read Jamie’s excerpt below to learn just how dedicated ISC is to providing personalized support to our customers.

“At Information Systems Corporation, we have a large service area that takes us to some interesting places.  Sometimes these places are far, far away.

The graduating class of the North Dakota town pictured below, Kenmare, ND, places white stones on the hills signifying their graduation year. Although it is hard to see in that picture, the stones were placed the same year Information Systems Corporation was founded, 1988.  If you know anything about this North Dakotan town, you get an idea of just how far we go to take care of our customers.

This trip I drove nearly 1200 miles in 3 days. I went from Fargo ND, to Minot ND, Kenmare ND (pictured), Bowbells ND, Plentywood MT, Sidney MT, Dickinson ND, and finally home. I do this because ISC takes care of their customers no matter the effort or cost ensued. John Dockter and I travel thousands of miles each year to ensure that the products/hardware we service are working properly and that our customers’ needs are fully taken care of.

In the day and age where webinars, computer to computer, non-social interactions are all too common, we still walk in the door.

Team Member Spotlight: Marco Weil

We are excited to share that Marco Weil, one of our talented Solution Analysts, celebrated his ISC Anniversary this month. Marco has officially been a part of the ISC family for three years and he has become an invaluable asset to our support team. Marco has gained an immense amount of knowledge during the past three years and has truly mastered our core software offering, Application Xtender. He is our ApplicationXtender Connector expert, which allows our solution to integrate with each client’s core software applications with a simple key stroke. Marco has also proved to be a skilled trainer and has built an excellent rapport with his customers over the years. Whether he is taking support calls over the phone or visiting end users to do on-site training sessions, we know our customers are in great hands when Marco is involved. He has a true passion for customer service and we are thankful to have him as a part of the team. Thank You for all your hard work and dedication, Marco!
